What is a unit and how do I add one?

A unit is one greenhouse or one growing site. AASOM groups devices under their units everywhere, so you can tell which board belongs to which greenhouse.

Before you start

• Role needed: Admin or Owner to add, edit or delete. A Viewer can only see the units.
• Where it is available: web.

How to get there

1. Sign in (see How do I sign in to my farm?).
2. Press Devices in the side menu. On a phone, it is in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
3. The first section on the page is “🏠 Units”.

Add a unit

1. Press + Add unit.
2. Type the unit name, such as “Main Greenhouse”. It is required.
3. Type the location if you wish (optional).
4. Press Add Unit.

Link devices to the unit

On each device card in the Devices section, pick the Unit from the list. Beside each unit’s name you see how many devices belong to it.

Edit or delete a unit

• Change the name or location in the unit’s row and it saves by itself.
• Press Delete to delete a unit. Move its devices to another unit first, since a unit with devices cannot be deleted.

Common problems

I cannot delete a unit. It still has devices. Move them to another unit, or set them to “no unit”, then try again.

I do not see the Add and Delete buttons. Your role is Viewer. They show only for Admins and the Owner.
