How do devices and sensors appear by themselves?
You usually do not need to type in your devices and sensors. When the Master node runs, it tells AASOM about itself and everything under it: nodes, sensors and outputs. They all appear on the Devices page.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Role needed: nothing to do for discovery to happen. To edit what appeared you need Admin or Owner; a Viewer can only look.
- Where it is available: web.
- Condition: the Master node must be flashed with its key and connected to the platform.
How to get there
Section titled “How to get there”- Sign in (see How do I sign in to my farm?).
- Press Devices in the side menu. On a phone, it is in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Everything discovered is in the “Devices”, “Sensors” and “Actuators” sections.

What happens?
Section titled “What happens?”- The Master node sends a list of itself and every node that has announced itself to it, with each one’s sensors and outputs.
- AASOM turns that list into devices, sensors and outputs on your farm, and only ever adds.
- What was added shows an auto-added badge.
What do you do?
Section titled “What do you do?”Your job is only to name, order, hide, disable and delete (see Sensors, Outputs and Edit a device).
Three rules that protect you
Section titled “Three rules that protect you”- What you changed is never touched: discovery does not overwrite a name, order, hiding, disabling or unit you set.
- What went quiet is never deleted: if a node stops listing a sensor in its report, the sensor and its history are kept, with a not in latest report badge. The node may just be powered off.
- Deleted stays deleted: what you deleted is not added again even if the device keeps sending it, until you restore it from Removed items.
In return, a Master node cannot adopt a device that belongs to another Master or has its own key.
Common problems
Section titled “Common problems”My device does not appear. Make sure the Master node is connected and running with its key (see Device states), and that the device was not deleted earlier (see Removed items). You can also add it by hand.
A sensor appeared that I do not want. Disable, hide or delete it.
The “not in latest report” badge. The node no longer mentions this item. It is not deleted automatically, so delete it yourself if it is really gone.
Glad it helped, thank you!
