How do I manage sensors: add, hide, disable and delete?
The Sensors section of the Devices page lists the sensors of one device, and lets you manage their names, order and state.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Role needed: Admin or Owner to edit. A Viewer can only see the list.
- Where it is available: web.
- You normally do not add sensors by hand: they are added automatically when the Master node reports them. You only rename, hide, disable or delete.
How to get there
Section titled “How to get there”- Sign in (see How do I sign in to my farm?).
- Press Devices in the side menu. On a phone, it is in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll to “🌡 Sensors” and pick the device from the list above it.

Edit a sensor
Section titled “Edit a sensor”Change the name, unit (such as °C) or order in the sensor’s row and it saves by itself. The friendly name is what appears in Readings and on the charts.
Add a sensor by hand
Section titled “Add a sensor by hand”- Pick the device from the list first.
- Press + Add sensor.
- Type the key exactly as the device sends it, such as
temp_2. It is required. - Pick the type: Temperature, Humidity, Soil moisture or Generic.
- Type a name and unit if you wish, then press Add Sensor.

Hide, disable or delete
Section titled “Hide, disable or delete”| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Hide | Hides the sensor from Home only. Readings are still recorded. Show brings it back |
| Disable | Its readings are dropped: nothing is recorded, and alerts, automation and the Advisor do not see it, until you press Enable |
| Delete | Deletes the sensor and all its readings for good. It stays removed even if the device reports it again, until you restore it from Removed items |
Badges you may see
Section titled “Badges you may see”- auto-added: the device announced it by itself and nobody typed it in.
- not in latest report: the node no longer lists it in its latest report. It is kept on purpose, since the node may just be powered off.
- disabled: you disabled it.
Common problems
Section titled “Common problems”I do not see a sensor in the list. Make sure you picked the right device in the list above the section. If it was deleted, look in Removed items.
A sensor shows no readings. It may be disabled or hidden. Look for the “disabled” badge or a “Show” button.
