How do I set up outputs and what does each output do?

An output is a switching channel on the board (a pump, a valve, a fan…). Here you set what is connected to each output and how it behaves. Until you do, the output stays off.

  • Role needed: Admin or Owner to edit. A Viewer can only see the settings.
  • Where it is available: web.
  • Outputs are not typed in: the board announces them as numbered channels, and you say what is connected to each channel.
  • Technician ceiling: the upper limit on how long an output can run is set by the technician on the Master’s local page, and cannot be changed here. Until it is set, the output stays off.
  1. Sign in (see How do I sign in to my farm?).
  2. Press Devices in the side menu. On a phone, it is in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Scroll to “🔌 Actuators” (it follows the device picked in the Sensors section).

The side menu: press Devices (1) to open the Devices page. An output card: the name (1), Hide (2), Disable (3), what is connected (4), longest run (5), rest between runs (6), the rule while the server is unreachable (7) and Save configuration (8).

  • Name and order save by themselves and appear in Controls.
  • Hide removes the output from Home.
  • Disable switches it off now if it is running, and refuses every command to it (manual, automation or Advisor) until you press Enable.
  • Delete removes the output, switching it off first if it is running. It stays removed until you restore it from Removed items.

Set the fields, then press Save configuration. The fields are saved together by that button, not one by one:

  • What is connected to this output: Valve, Pump, Dosing pump, Fan, Light, Heater or Other. “Not configured” means it stays off.
  • Longest run, seconds: the output never runs longer than this at a time. 0 means use the technician’s ceiling.
  • Rest between runs, seconds: the shortest gap between two runs.
  • While the server is unreachable: do nothing, or switch the output on when a sensor on the same device reads below or above a limit, with “Start at”, “Stop at” and “Run for”. A dosing pump never runs by itself during an outage.

After saving you see: “Saved. The board picks it up within about half a minute.”

Pill Meaning
no ceiling The technician has not set the ceiling yet
not configured You have not said what is connected
waiting for the board Saved, but the board has not picked it up yet
on the board The board is running the current setup

The output does not run although I set it up. Check the pill: if it says “no ceiling”, ask the technician to set the ceiling on the Master.

I cannot find the output. Make sure the right device is picked, or look in Removed items.
